What differentiates Croatia from other holidays destinations is an amazing coastline, nature and local (organically grown) ingredients. Food plays an important role onboard Ocean Sailing House yachts and it is one of the key factors when deciding to charter the crewed yacht. Professional chefs onboard are always listening to what the guests want. Using fresh, seasonal ingredients relevant to the Mediterranean area in which the yacht is cruising, chefs deliver menus according to your tastes and dietary needs.
Summer 2020 was very challenging due to the situation caused by coronavirus COVID 19. Clients and yacht owners onboard choose the less busy and tourist popular routes, spending the nights in secluded bays, exploring more remote islands like Lastovo, Vis and even the most remote Croatian island Palagruža.
Having a full-time chef on board at your disposal proved to be the perfect choice for the complete stress-free and C-19-free vacation. Leisurely breakfasts glided into lunch, which eased into late afternoon snacks followed by canapés just before sitting down to dinner! Sitting down to a meal presented a quality time – often not found in normal busy life – to enjoy these meals in the company of family and friends, people who matter to You the most.
The term “chef’s table” many relate to the original Netflix documentary series. Each episode of the series profiles a professional chef from one of the worlds best restaurants.
For some of you less into Netflix (if there is any :) – Wikipedia says
chef’s table (plural chefs’ tables)
- A table located in the kitchen of a restaurant, reserved for special guests and allowing them to see the chef at work and sometimes to be served a tasting menu.
The concept of the chef’s table originated from an age-old practice of chefs entertaining their family and friends in the kitchen as they worked. If space allowed, they sat at a small table tucked in an out-of-the-way corner; if not, they squeezed in at the pass. In time, enterprising restaurateurs began granting their regular patrons the opportunity to walk through the swinging doors for a behind-the-scenes dinner in the kitchen. And what was once an invitation-only VIP perk eventually evolved into a fully bookable table for the general public.
Chef’s table at sea became a popular entertainment option on big cruise ships as part of the restaurant options. Have you ever thought of booking a smaller yacht with the gourmet experience on Your mind?
When contracting crews for the yachts we are always looking for educated, talented and highly motivated people with a positive approach and the ability to work in a busy environment. Both chefs, chef Dragan Dragojlović GAGA (S/Y TWIN) and chef Mario Fras (S/Y VULPINO) are passionate about food and enjoy preparing both modern and traditional dishes using the ingredients strictly from the local markets.
